Statement of Experience

  • I qualified in 2003 and became a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2009. I was a partner at a large NHS teaching practice in Bournemouth from 2010 until 2023, where I shared responsibility with my partners for:
  • the provision of Primary Medical Services for a population of around 25,000 people
  • clinical governance and the meeting of quality and outcome framework targets
  • teaching medical students from the University of Southampton School of Medicine.
  • My areas of special interest within the practice were:
  • provision of minor surgery
  • musculoskeletal medicine including joint and per-articular injections
  • fitting of sub-dermal contraceptive implants
  • training GP registrars (I was an approved GP trainer).
  • I have been involved in local healthcare commissioning and have:
  • chaired a working group to develop best practice guidelines in the provision of joint and peri-articular injection therapy for Dorset,
  • chaired the Dorset fractured neck of femur pathway group,
  • sat on the working group to determine spinal pain care pathways for Dorset.
  • sat on the Dorset CCG musculoskeletal clinical commissioning committee.
  • I was a GP appraiser for 6 years, responsible for helping my appraisees meet the requirements for revalidation.
  • I was an elected member of the Dorset Local Medical Committee, representing the interests of Bournemouth GPs.
  • Prior to becoming a GP I worked in Orthopaedics, Accident and Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics, Intensive Care, Cardiology, Acute Medicine, General Surgery, Ear Nose and Throat, Palliative Medicine and Oncology.
  • I am familiar with Part 35 of the civil procedure rules, and the requirements of solicitors when seeking expert evidence. I have undertaken appropriate expert witness training. My expert witness workload includes both Claimant and Defendant work, although Claimant work predominates. I also undertake work for the GMC in professional regulation cases.
